Career Services Ambassadors

Ambassadors are a big part of Queen’s Career Fairs and one of the reasons they are so successful, but being a Career Services Ambassador is also a great opportunity for you.

You will have the opportunity to meet and network with employers from an advantaged position. As an Ambassador you are demonstrating to employers that you have initiative and employable qualities before even handing out your resume.

You will also gain valuable volunteer experience, enhance your communication, team building, and network with Career Service staff, other students, and volunteers. As an added bonus, volunteers will receive a formal letter of thanks from Queen’s Employer Engagement team, plus a free t-shirt and lunch!

For information about the program, please feel free to contact qocr@queensu.ca.

Ambassadors represent Queen’s University by maintaining a positive demeanor at all times.

The various roles that Ambassadors have during the fairs are:

Employer Mix & Mingle: Assist employers upon arrival and interact with them throughout the event. For example – ambassadors help unload vehicles, carry displays and assist with booth set up.
Event Set-Up: Assist with preparation prior to the start of the event. This includes setting up signage, registration desk and tables.
During the Fair: Assist students attending the fair by answering questions about the event and work with Career Service staff at specific booths.

Again, you will have the opportunity to leave lasting, favourable impressions with participating employers.

Ambassadors usually sign up for shifts of 1–3 hours during event days.

Events that Ambassadors participate in are:

  • Online Career Fair
  • Career Expo
  • Further Education Expo
  • Summer Opportunities Fair
  • Winter Engineering and Technology Fair

Ambassadors will be required to attend a mandatory training at Career Services.

We are currently full for our Ambassador program. Please check back for future opportunities.

Quote from student #1:

"The Career Services Ambassador (CSA) program gave me the opportunity to interact with potential employers in a low stress environment. I felt more comfortable talking to company representatives because I was there primarily for their benefit. The CSA program is a fantastic way to further your own career while improving employer relations with Queen’s at the same time. In fact, my first interaction with my current employer was at the Queen’s Career Fair as a CSA."

Quote from student #2:

"My time at Career Services as an Ambassador was everything I hoped it would be and more. Not only did I get to enhance my communication skills through volunteering with the street team, I also learned a lot more about my potential career field while helping out at the events over both fall and winter semesters. Rarely do we get the chance to interact with employers in such a setting (where you're welcoming and helping them instead of the other way around), so I strongly encourage you to take this unique and valuable opportunity to contribute, learn, and meet some amazing people along the way."
